World of the Ger

Orthodox Rabbi David Katz has worked vigorously with Rabbi Chaim Clorfene for decades to revive the ancient Jewish understanding of the Ger. Now you can catch up on thousands of years of study and get the answers you need in an easy to read format.

What is the book about?

Perhaps the most important question you can ask is, “Who am I?” Your self-identity determines the path you follow in this world. Understanding who you are and where you fit into the universe will open up the door for you to participate in the greatest mission of all time, literally, and empower you to fulfill the purpose you were created for.

Critical Questions

  1. What is a Ger?
  2. What Torah instructions did Adam, Noah, and Abraham have?
  3. How does physical food affect my soul?
  4. How can someone that’s not Jewish observe the Sabbath?

Whether you identify as a Noahide, Ger, Gentile, Jew, or “Undetermined,” understanding the narrative of the Ger throughout the Scriptures is crucial for every person trying to make a difference in the world.

I very much appreciate what you and Rabbi Clorfene are doing. Having been attracted to the Truth of the Torah since I read Buber's translation of the Tanakh and his accounts of the Chassidim, I always wanted to attach to Hashem by way of keeping mitzvot with the right intention, but it took me years to discover that the Torah offers a way for Non-Jews to do just that. Unfortunately, most writings on Noahism tend to put one off, since they seem to forbid almost everything to Noahides which goes beyond elementary ethics. Your approach is much more friendly, since you seem to emphasize the partnership betweenJews and Righteous Gentiles.

Emailed to Rabbi Katz

Among my friends that have an insatiable drive to live a righteous life before the Creator of the Universe, nailing down identity has always been a huge struggling point. “Who am I?” World of the Ger has shaped my purpose and understanding of who I am in this world more dynamically than any other kosher book I’ve read. Finally, I understand where I fit into the universe and what I can do to participate constructively in the restoration of all things. When someone asks me, “What do you call yourself.” Now I can confidently respond, “I am a Ger.” This book is a must read for anybody serious about living a righteous life with purpose and direction.
